Scheepjes CAL 2020 D'Histoire Naturelle
Welcome to the Scheepjes 2020 CAL (crochet-along) and it is an absolute treasure! This gorgeous blanket designed by Christina Hadderingh uses both Stone Washed and River Washed yarns that are a match made in Heaven. These yarns are predominantly cotton with 22% acrylic. They are 5ply/sport weight and breathable. The white or dark core of the yarns creates a beautiful, heathered effect.
The CAL is recommended for both adventurous beginners and experienced crocheters alike.
The design comes in four different colorways and it is very hard to choose just one!
Your Project Pack includes:
38 x 50g balls of Stone Washed and River Washed in your selected colour way
1 pack of Toho glass beads
1 beading needle
1 official CAL souvenir bookmark
1 letter from the designer
1 YARN the After Party booklet.
Have you been involved in a crochet-along before? What happens is the pattern will be released in parts over a period of 11 weeks beginning on 23 September 2020. The crochet pattern will be published in 6 fortnightly parts and is in English with both UK and US terms available on scheepjes.com. There is also additional support through Facebook groups with video tutorials, tips and techniques shared. It can be a very social and supportive activity as everyone creates their blanket at the same time - helping each other along.
Interestingly with this CAL, Scheepjes has an optional read-along happening at the same time! The story is "All The Light We Cannot See" by Anthony Doerr. The design for the crochet blanket is inspired by the galleries in the Museum of Natural History in Paris. This museum is highlighted in Anthony's novel (note that the book is not included in the pack). So we can be reading along and crocheting along together - bliss!
